Bovie President Interviewed by Opportunist Magazine

Posted by Bovie Medical on Wed, Dec 4, 2013 @ 03:00 PM

In September, 2013, Bovie's President, Rob Saron, was interviewed by Opportunist Magazine.  Opportunist, a publication that focuses on people, products and programs that exemplify out-of-the-box thinking, was fortunate to catch our president on a day when he could take time from his hectic schedule.  The resultant interview was insightful, candid and informative.  It focused on Bovie Medical Corp.'s innovative and inspired electrosurgical tools, and especially the new J-Plasma device.

Bovie and Social Media are World Wide and Amazing

Posted by Bovie Medical on Tue, Sep 10, 2013 @ 01:11 PM

I recently made a quick trip to Shanghai, China, the financial center of China.  I landed on Friday evening and went for a brief tour of the old part referred to as the Bund Architecture which the British built a hundred years ago.  If you look across the river you will see the new skyscrapers which, from a distance, could be any major city in the world.

My New Kindle and Our New Lighting System

Posted by Bovie Medical on Tue, Jul 23, 2013 @ 05:08 PM

My old Kindle died and I received my new one.  The screen size is identical to the original Kindle and I can easily increase the type size if I need to, yet the overall size is a few inches smaller.  When compared to carrying some large books, it is as different as night and day.  I once again purchased a leather cover so it feels more like a book.  The cover is better too.  It offers more cushioning and is firmly locked in place.  The old leather cover had a funky way of holding on to the Kindle and periodically came off when I dropped it.  The new case also puts the Kindle to sleep when you close the cover.  The new Kindle Paperwhite gets an A+ review from me.

Part Two: Favorite Books and Bovie Products

Posted by Bovie Medical on Wed, Jul 17, 2013 @ 03:31 PM

Back in October of 2012 I wrote a blog about my favorite books. There had been an article titled My 6,128 Favorite Books in the Wall Street Journal.  My thought then, and still now, is that one should be able to narrow one’s likes and dislikes down a little bit from 6,128.  I guess if you were comparing that to every book ever written then it might be acceptable, but that clearly wasn’t the case.

My Kindle Died, But Your Bovie Probably Won’t

Posted by Bovie Medical on Wed, Jul 10, 2013 @ 10:49 AM

I am headed to Washington DC for the HIDA Summit and my Kindle died.  Now I have a very old Kindle, I mean really old. Plastic is chipped off the edges, despite the leather cover.  It is that cover that kind of gives it the feel of a real book, and I love the feel of a real book.  But the right hand corner went dark, and being the technically savvy type, I turned it off and turned it back on.  I know you are probably thinking, hey, that is what I would have done.  But it made it worse.  Now I can't read the top 25% of the page.   But panic hasn't set in yet because I always have a small business book or something for that below 10,000 feet rule on the plane.

Kids and Kubs Play On; and So Will Your Bovie

Posted by Bovie Medical on Wed, Jun 12, 2013 @ 11:00 AM

The Kids and the Kubs play softball in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida and it has always been a goal of mine to play on this team.  Now this is a very special group of guys.  That being said, they do have a few women on the teams now, and not as token members.  There are only a few, but they are equal in talent to the men in every way.  You see this team of my future has an age requirement, you need to be at least 75 years old.  I have a picture hanging behind my desk of a poster Nike did many years ago picturing the Kids and the Kubs, titled “Some Sides Never Retire”.

To Avoid Jet Lag This Summer, Travel Like a Scientist

Posted by Bovie Medical on Mon, Jun 3, 2013 @ 05:09 PM

I enjoyed the article on avoiding jet lag, which appeared in the Wall Street Journal recently.  If you missed it, it is attached for your reading pleasure.  Much of what is said is true, but that isn’t how I do it.  They do talk about a sleeping pill and coffee during the day, and those methods are acceptable to me.

Rob Saron on the MDSI Hall of Fame Award

I received a note from my mother following the MDSI Hall of Fame dinner in February.  It was a fun and special night at the Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta.  My mother, my brother Bill and his younger son Myles, along with my daughters had surprised me when I got the 2008 Award of Distinction from HIDA (recently renamed in memory of John Sasen).

In a world full of cynicism it's good to see that nice guys don't always finish last.  Rob Saron is truly one of the nice guys in our industry.  Rob has dedicated 35 years of his career to Bovie Medical. He's helped the company weather turbulent times and celebrates the good times.  As an industry veteran Rob is known for his calm demeanor, one who listens well and only speaks when he truly believes he can bring value to the conversation.
