5 Reasons Why You Should NOT Buy Refurbished Equipment for Your OR

Posted by Bovie Medical on Thu, May 30, 2013 @ 02:27 PM

One of the challenges we here at Bovie Medical face from time to time is that of a physician trying to save a few dollars by purchasing refurbished electrosurgical generators.

These will typically be a very well used operating room ESU.  It could be a Valleylab, a Conmed (My legal department wants me to mention that Valleylab is a registered trademark of Covidien and Conmed is a registered trademark of Conmed Corporation) or a real Bovie.  But whichever one it is, if you are this physician, you need to really ask how much are you saving and is this even the right generator for you? Is this the one that really best meets your needs?

5 Reasons to not buy- bovie

Five Things to Consider
  • Warranty - The warranty on used equipment is frequently just 90 days.  On the 91st day if it goes down, can you even get it fixed?  If so, how much is it going to cost, how long is it going to take and what happened to the savings you thought you were getting?  The standard warranty on a new Bovie is two years.  In addition to that, there are certain times of the year where the company runs promotions that extend the warranty to five years.

  • Coverage - Often times the items that are covered under the refurbished warranty are only the parts that were replaced.

  • Repairs - In the unlikely event your Bovie needs repair, we have loaner equipment to keep your practice going.

  • State of the Art - Buying new also means you are getting the latest technology available.  Because Bovie offers six different generators and a high frequency desiccator, you just might be able to get a brand new Bovie that is perfect for your particular specialty at a very competitive price.

  • Peace of Mind - Along with your new Bovie comes peace of mind that it will function the way it is supposed to for a long time to come.

Remember, when you ask for a Bovie®, make sure you get a real Bovie!
