Here at Bovie Medical Corporation, we understand how important your electrosurgery generators are for your practice. Which is why having a good service package is paramount. All electrosurgery units sold by us have a standard written warranty as well as servicing practices. In short, this means that your electrosurgery generators will always be available to you when you need them, but it also means a lot more.
With our standard Aaron Electrosurgical Generator, you get a two year warranty that begins from the day you bought it. But, because we sell through distribution, we understand that it may take time to go through the channel and for you to receive the generator. Therefore, we offer an extra six months on top of our warranty. This means that in reality, you get a two and a half year warranty.
Of course, some basic troubleshooting can help you keep from sending the unit in for repair, making it easier for you to keep your practice up and running. For example, if you're having a problem where you're not getting any power to your unit, check the plug, not just in the wall, but in the machine itself. It may be that the power plug isn't fully inserted, as on most electrosurgery generators, the plug fits very tightly into the machine. This means that sometimes it takes a little bit more push to get the plug fully inserted.
If the unit is showing a split pad error, sometimes that can simply be an issue of the split pad not being in contact with the patient's skin. Because our electrosurgery generators are actually designed to know when there is skin contact, it can show an error if there isn't actual contact. See if it works by giving the pad contact with your skin, either your leg, arm, or the palm of your hand.
The best thing you can do when trying to troubleshoot your equipment is to always have a plan. Make sure that you keep some spares on hand, like another pencil, a return pad or plate, and another return cord if you are not using all single-use disposable items to begin with. It is the accessories that most often are the culprit when an ESU isn’t functioning properly, which means you can do some simple troubleshooting yourself, to see where the problem is. The Bovie Medical ESUs themselves are known for being unbelievably durable workhorses.
If you're having trouble with your electrosurgery generators at any time during the warranty period, or any time after, you can either email us at kevin.holmes@boviemed.com, or call us at 800-537-2790 and ask for customer service. Let us know that you have a malfunctioning unit and give us some basic details on what's going wrong. We'll need the serial number on the back of the unit, and we'll likely be able to send you on your way to having a functioning unit in time for surgery. If the unit really does need to come in for service, we can get you a loaner until yours is repaired and returned.
The more information we have, the more troubleshooting we can do for you. When we know the history of your unit, we can immediately jump to where the problem is, rather than having to fully test the unit. Of course, after troubleshooting, we'll make sure to test the machine fully, to make sure your electrosurgery generators are performing up to specification. The more information we have, the faster we can do your repairs.
It may be tempting to buy refurbished electrosurgery generators, but here at Bovie, we want to make sure that you know the risks associated with buying a refurbished model. Having the warranty you need means that you can get any repairs necessary, and we're always ready to service your model. We know that having your machines operational means a better experience for both doctor and patient.
