I thought you would be interested in the following story from The Wall Street Journal.
While in general I don't read the opinion section of any paper, this headline caught my eye. It discusses the 2.3% tax medical device companies are going to be required to pay beginning January 1, 2013. The tax is going to have a very negative effect on jobs and medical innovation in the USA.
Recently we had one of our long time mechanical engineers retire. Instead of replacing him here we decided to replace him at our operation in Bulgaria. We replaced that function and added two more employees in Bulgaria AND got some change back. This is before the new tax goes into effect!
The idea of everyone having access to healthcare is a noble one. No one should be hungry here, everyone should have some form of shelter, but putting a tax on top of all of the other costs of doing business in the USA is simply going to make more people lose their jobs.
That is not my opinion, that is a fact!
